- What stops working
- Oracle's Java SE Support Roadmap says the Extended Support uplift fee for Java SE 8 is waived for March 2022 to December 2030, and that during that period customers receive Extended Support. Adoptium's support page lists Eclipse Temurin 8 (LTS) with an end of availability of "At least Dec 2030", and explains that it builds LTS binaries as long as the upstream source is actively maintained. The Oracle roadmap excludes the Java Plugin and Java Web Start from its timelines.
- Replacement
- A newer Java LTS release such as Java 17, 21 or 25
